Connecting with Death.
At La Semilla our companions offer spaces to talk about death to children and toddlers for several days.
- They read stories that help them to understand that it is just another step in the life cycle.
- Life, death, life... Many children mould their deceased animals and people in clay.
- Families bring memories, photos, letters, candles and offerings to honour them and thank them for their passage through life.
- The whole community erects an altar in a room with an intimate atmosphere, where the figures on display are respected and calm and a deep feeling of love and joy reigns, because the memories and moments lived with our loved ones, keep us connected even though we do not see them.
- All this symbolism is contextualised within the cycles of the earth. At the entrance of a time with more darkness, where we are entering into winter, harvesting and gathering around the light.
